Our Japanese is a bit rusty, but from what we can gather the story goes a bit like this… Little Pikachu is playing with his friends Piplup and Chikorita when a vision appears to them and tells them that there is trouble at the PokéPark! Pikachu must head over there and rescue the place from ‘the fragment of the sky prism’. So how can a small electric mouse do this? Well by taking part in a series of fun and frantic mini-games of course!
Races play a big part of the fun in PokéPark Wii with Pikachu whizzing around all over the place. But Pikachu isn’t the only Pokémon you get to control in PokéPark Wii. There are also battles to take part in, using those trademark Pokémon special moves, a quiz to test your Pokémon knowledge and athletic games that will push your Pokémon to the limit! All of this takes place over all kinds of terrain. There are icy levels, fiery lava levels, then you get to fly through the skies, swim through the oceans, while all the time keeping your energy levels up and hoping to save the day!
The screens you see here are all work in progress, but I think you’ll agree with us that the game is looking like the most exciting thing to happen to the Nintendo Wii for years! We just can’t wait to start waggling our Wii Remote to get these Pokémon moving!

I’ve been keeping an eye on this. Graphics look beautiful, gameplay looks interesting, and yet my inner PokeNerd is screaming ‘WHY can’t we have a 3D free-roaming trainer/Pokemon game now?’. I kinda feel like they’re holding back on us…
But cranky jaded inner fan rants aside, this does look highly entertaining. Kinda like Mario Party…only with Pokemon in it.

3D models appear to be so much smoother than PBRs. A great improvement. Looks like a great fun game too!

Since it’s a Nintendo game, I wonder if it will have a mini game like the purple coin collecting one in Super Mario Galaxy and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, after all, Nintendo also made those games as well!
Nice, hope it isn’t too expensive, since it seems to be a mini-game type, and has it is on the wii I hope it uses the wiimote habillitys really well. If it its cheaper than the normal nintendo games I might buy it, it should be fun has a complement for pokemon fans. I’m really looking forward to see an real pokemon RPG on the wii though, it would look awesome, although I don’t have much hope, wii is mostly a familiar console, so it will have mostly games that can be played by casual players.
