Forget Texting – How About Pokémoning Your Mobile?

And you thought that the DS was the only way to get portable Pokémon videogames, right? Not if you live in Japan and happen to have one of these nifty mobile phones. The entire phone system is customised with Pokémon characters! Pikachu pops up with a letter for you when a text message arrives; Meowth and Charmander do a little dance when you change your ringtones – how brilliant is that eh? If there’s one thing we can say for Japan, it’s that they really LOVE Pokémon, or Pocket Monsters as they prefer to call the craze. We think that customised phone menus are a brilliant idea – it would certainly make some of the boring phones on the market seem a bit more exciting. Film and game companies should look in to bringing this to the Western world – we think it would go down really well. Perhaps we should visit the Dragon’s Den?

Have you ever seen so many cool shoes in one place at one time before? There’s a plethora of Pokémon footwear in the Japanese shops. You can wear a different Pokémon character on your feet every day of the week if you like! There are even cool PokéWellies to keep the water from your socks on those wet winter days. Now, why oh why can’t us UK shoppers get in on some of this action?

I live in Australia, and if you look in the right places you can find plenty of Pokemon merchandise, though, not like in Japan. Though, I am currently learning Japanese so I can visit the country, and while I’m there, visit one of their Pokemon Centres!
