The president of Pokémon Company confirmed that they are working on an entirely new Pokémon RPG for the Nintendo DS, and that it will include at least one brand new Pokémon! Our translation of the announcement tells us that they are planning to recreate the game from the ground up, so that should introduce some interesting new gameplay elements.
So that would make this mystery game the first of the fifth Generation of Pokémon games, and the first time a new generation has begun on the same console as the previous generation of games. So what is your reaction to this news? Our first thoughts are that we would rather they created a definitive Pokémon RPG for the Wii, using the advanced graphics and motion capabilities of the console rather than simply create another DS game. Not really. The second generation started on a GameBoy (with Color support), which was still a gameboy. This time, it will start on a DS (with DSi support), which is still a DS.

awesome!! im really glad theyre making more for the ds. ive only had the chance to play on a couple of wii games, but always preferred the graphics and gameplay of the ds, so im happy theres more ds games! i really hope its gonna be good and that the new pokemon will be cool!
I think it will be good to have another game on DS, but I think another Pokemon game on Wii would be better.

Think about it….They have more than enough pokemon now, to make a real world map to explore. You could do battles like how they did it in ff12. Except that when you run up to a monster you just chuck your pokeball out, and your character stands in the background as the focus is on your pokemon fighting the wild pokemon.
Game Freak must have made mega profits off this franchise so now it is time to do it justice and expand for not only young players but young adults too. At my ripe old age of 22 I would really love to see this game on the big screen on the PS3. But I guess thats the problem isnt it

It sounds strange that they’d say ‘at least 1 brand new pokemon’, though.
I think it should be a ds game because you can play it when your on the go and because pokemon is meant to be portable.

Pokemon main series games, have always been handheld console games, and so I believe they should always remain handheld.
Hmm…well we will see Feb 15th for the new pokemon to be in pokemon movie 13, but it might just be a remake of Ruby and Sapphire with a new form pokemon in it. Anyways ya lets hope that it’s the 5th generation!!!!

Having said that, I do think it would be best if the next Pokémon RPG was released for the Wii. I think a sprite-based overworld and battle sequences like those of Pokémon Battle Revolution would be very clever.
But if it must be DS, I’m not complaining. This is still awesome news.

Let it be for th Ds and Wii. That makes an idea. Two different ineractable games, for two different systems. It would be like Diamond and Pearl for the Ds, revamped into a Platnium style for the Wii I suppose.

hopefully the game is adventurous like in the anime….3D graphics? its a must….it would be really cool if we give command to the pokemon using the mic! do u guys hear me? using your mics to give command to your pokemon ! so the pokemon can dodge an attack and we invent our own skill like ash did in the anime…..im desperate to have a pokemon battle like in the anime…hopefully all these things are in the new game ! cant wait! peace

this article is incorrect there was another time where a new generation began on the same console as an older one. In the advanced days Pokemon red rescue team and Pokemon xd gale of darkness both had munchlax and bonsly come out before the rest of the 4th generation.so I think it will just be something new like mystery dungeon or ranger. I wouldn’t get too exited.

Wow I really can’t wait to start meeting some completely new pokemon!
I also would love the next generation RPG to be on the Wii. We have seen showcases of graphics and gameplay from the likes of Battle Revolution, PokePark Wii and even Rumble – if the team were to gather all they have learned from these games and put it together, the results could well be mindblowing!
And they can’t really play the interconnectivity card any more, since the Wii is as equally online accessible as the DS.
I very much doubt that you will be able to comand with your mic. SORRY! But if it is a ranger game I can’t wait.

Wow. You guys honestly think this is generation 5? When they’re saying there’ll only be one more pokemon? If that’s the case, why even have a generation 5? I mean, If they had said, ‘at least 100′ or ‘at least 50′ then I’d be cheering on with you. But ‘at least 1′?! That’s just dissappointing.
That being said, if it weren’t a totally new game and were a remake of Hoenn I’d be SOOO happy! The first pokemon game I ever got was Rubie version, so if they made a new version of that AND put a brand new pokemon in it, I’d be the first one to even RESERVE it! (In America, of course. I’m not so obsessed that I’d go to Japan.) But if this is supposed to be a whole new generation, then it sucks.

i went on serebii.net and it showed a pic of the silouete (did i spell it right?) of a 5th gen pokemon looks like a wolf maybe mighteyena evolution or lucario (dout lucario though)

I think they should stick with the NDS for a while, besides hopefully they’ll make DPP and -the upcoming- HeartGold & SoulSilver compatible with it. I hope it’s just a really expansive ultimate Pokemon game with all the current regions and maybe a fist full of new moves and some new pokemon evolutions just to make it interesting. But yeah, the pokemon silhoette looks like it could definetely be an evolution of Mightyena or Lucario. XD Who knows, one of them evolves into it through Moon Stone! lololol

i think it would be great for wii, but better for ds(i) because just think, its called POCKET monsters, and what do ya know, the ds fits in you pocket.

well i think they should keep pokemon for portables and colleseum games on consoles because the wii fails. on another note they need to make a pokemon MMORPG for the PC because that would be way better than an offline portable one. and when they wanna make new places and pokemon make expansion packs.

Personally i would like a MMORPG of pokemon. I think it would be really great game for people to better meet one another and learn from one another.If they are going to put another game on console they need to make it like Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness was. “Great game inside out” All i know is pokemon has come a long way from Pokemon Yellow when i started. It was revealed that the “new” pokemon is Zoroark.
You should look on Serebii.
Personally I think it should have been a fighting type as well as
a dark type. (It’s only pure dark)
I think they should make an entire game going threw each region and starting form scratch when you get there but still have the ohters for the elite four.

I would like a completely new version of hoenn.think about it…how awesome would it be if say TROPIUS got huge and ninja or latias and latios had evolutions…
hoenn could be all high-tech and steven stone had created a revoultionary device that had made hoenn rich and those good for nothing proffessors got their much needed fund money and actually put some effort into their research and discovered loads of new pokemon. there would be enough money to create cruise ships and that would allow you to cross the ocean to other regions. which would also have new pokemon too!

i have heard a lot of people calling zorua ugly when its damn well cute and the same goes with riolu ( i dont call myself riolu lover for a laugh you know!)and another thing give us a new region im sick and tired of sinnoh dimond,pearl and platinum are exellent games and all but i want to explore new places and the person who had the idea of a custimisable trainer is a genius!!
I hope that this new game will have the power to make your own character including hair, eyes and even clothes! And to make things better it would be cool if you could go to the all the reigons!

yeh, I want there to be an pokemon RPG too for the WII me and my friends have been discussing how it might work we came up with an idea with was..
you hold the WII remote horizontally and use the arrow keys to move around just like on the DS.

+ is to open up the main menu.
and in a battle you hold the remote the normal way and select your move like pokemon battle revolution.
I think that now with the 3ds coming out it will go like this: well gold and silver were released for the gbc but could be played on the gb, crystal however could only be played on the gbc, so i think that when the 2 main games of the 5th gen are released you will be able to play them on the ds and the 3ds, and the third game will only be on the 3ds
