Nintendo brought Pokémon joy to the citizens of New York City for the launch of Pokémon Platinum…
They know how to launch a game in America! Back on 21 March, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company brought New York City to a standstill for the launch of Pokémon Platinum. The event took place at the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Plaza with a giant Pikachu, Giratina hats for everyone and lots of DS Lite pods with game sampling galore. The queues were predictably right around the block as excited Pokémon fans waited patiently for their chance to see the new adventure and try out the Pokémon Platinum Plunge, where copies of the game could be won in a kind of lucky dip!
One of the first Pokémon fans to get his hands on the new game was Reggie Ramjeet, who excitedly opened up the new game wearing his cool Giratina cardboard hat, while Nintendo’s in-house photographer captured the moment. The cameras also captured young Pokémon Trainer Lauren Bergin trying out the Pokétch functions in the new game, while being closely watched by a famous yellow Pokémon – can you guess who? Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl have already sold 5.3 million copies in North America alone!
