Let’s just start this review by saying one thing: wow! If you’ve bought this book, then you absolutely must have Pokémon Diamond or Pearl in your life! This is the game every Pokémon fan has dreamt of. It is the ultimate Pokémon adventure and Nintendo, Creatures, Game Freak and Pokémon Company really must be congratulated on creating such an innovative, exciting and captivating game.
Of course, you might have guessed that we would love this game – we are Pokémon World, after all – but hand on heart, this is the best Nintendo DS adventure game by far. Let us tell you why…
While the heart of the game is Pokémon, as you will all know and love, the developer has painstakingly added features, items, characters, locations and innovations to make these games feel fresh as a daisy. The company has made great use of the DS’s unique capabilities. You’ll be using the touch screen with the stylus to draw things, you’ll be battling online through Wi-Fi, you’ll be blowing into the microphone to send leaves flying around the screen and locations, and Pokémon will change depending on the time of day – there are lots of brilliant examples of gameplay that is only possible on the DS.
Much like all Pokémon games, you can really play these games in two ways. Once you’ve chosen your character and named him or her there’s a fun and rewarding adventure to embark on. You will meet interesting characters throughout the region of Shinnoh, you’ll learn new skills each time you play and you will do A LOT of Pokémon battling. You can do a great deal of this without having to complete your Pokédex or uncover every secret the game has hidden away. That’s where the bigger challenge lies – hardcore Pokémon players will want to firstly capture data on all of the Sinnoh Pokémon – that’s 107 if you include the Legendary Palkia and Dialga, plus Manaphy who is transferred from Pokémon Ranger. That’s a lot of battling, hatching eggs, raising, nurturing and searching! Then you realise that these are just a drop in the ocean. All of the Pokémon from previous Game Boy games can be transferred – albeit only six of them each day. Once in your DS game you can capture them and add them to the National Pokédex. Add to this mammoth task all the items to find, contests to win, TMs and HMs to master, daily and weekly events to see – the list goes on and on. You’re going to be spending a lot of time with these games over the coming months and years!
We’ve been playing Pokémon Diamond now for two weeks and we’re completely addicted – and we’ve played every Pokémon game there is! That’s just how new and fresh these two games feel. It’s almost as if Nintendo invented the DS especially to create these new Pokémon adventures. I’ve never seen a game made such good use of all the features the handheld has to offer – take a look in the box over there! Right, I’m off to link up through Wi-Fi and give someone a good pasting with my Lv.30 Monferno!
So the big question is: is it fun? Well, yes, of course! If you’re the kind of Pokémon player who enjoys the adventure side of the game more than the battling though, we have to admit that the constant battle interruptions as you explore Sinnoh can start to get on your nerves. But equally there are those who enjoy the battling more than the adventure. Still, you can’t please all of the Pokémon fans all of the time; however, there’s so much packed into these games that everyone can get hours of enjoyment. Whether you’re a PokéBeginner or a PokéExpert, you’re going to love Diamond & Pearl!

I have Pearl and I am loving it to bits, atg the mo I am at the Alite League and man is it tough! I have Empoleon Lv70!!!!
I love all the wireless play there is and I always go underground to top up my den (and play hide and seek with my brother!! 
He has Diamond!) Personlly I disagree Lewis, Pearl is exactly the same as Diamond except Palkia is way way way better than Dialga – and is better looking!!
