Make and Do! Pikachu Cookies

by the Pokémon World team

Hi guys, here’s a recipe for some delicious baked goods – cookies, to be exact! And for an added Poké twist we’ve decided to make them in the shape of Pikachu’s face! Just read on for our super-easy guide to making your very own batch of ginger Pikachu cookies. They go really well with an ice-cold glass of milk or juice. Yum!

TIME 20 MINUTES

Before you start:
Remember to wash and dry your hands properly with soap and water. Important: Ovens can be very dangerous – be sure to ask an adult to turn the oven on for you and get them to take the stuff out of there when it’s hot!

PikachuCookiesstep-11. Ask an adult to preheat the oven to 180°C. Put your sugar and butter into a bowl. Stir them around until they’ve mixed together nicely.

.

.

PikachuCookiesstep-22. Next pour in the plain flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and golden syrup. Keep on stirring the ingredients until they’re all mixed in.

PikachuCookiesstep-33. Put the big lump of dough onto a clean worktop or chopping board with flour on (to stop it sticking to it). Roll it out so it’s nice and flat, but about 2-3mm thick.

.

PikachuCookiesstep-44. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out circle shapes from the flattened dough. Then take small pieces of dough and roll them into small sausage shapes in your hand. Stick two of them on to each circle for Pikachu’s ears.

PikachuCookiesstep-55. Get a grown-up to pop the cookies into the oven for about 8-10 minutes. While they’re cooking pour some icing sugar into a bowl and add a little bit of water to make it into a thick paste. Add two drops of yellow food colouring.

PikachuCookiesstep-66. Ask an adult to take the cookies out of the oven. Leave to cool completely then add your yellow icing all over the ‘faces’. Pop in the fridge to set a bit and then add the ears, eyes, cheeks and mouth. And you’re done!

Why not use red or pink sweets for Pikachu’s cheeks? Mmmm, tasty chocolate!
